Using blogs in my education is beneficial for the conversation piece of learning. We need to be able to talk about our education trials and triumphs and explain things to others in order to become better learners.
I have created a wiki of my own for my classroom information. It is located at http://menees4thgrade.wikispaces.com/MENEES+HOME+PAGE
However, most of this info is for parents. I would love to create a class blog for journals, questions, discussions, and subject matter. A think a challenge to this would be not having every child possess a computer or access to a computer.
Using a class blog for journal entries and class books would incorporate so many standards, make it rigorous and fun for the students. Students love to be on the computer and access the internet.

I just browsed your classroom site. I have never been exposed to wikis, so I was glad to be able to view one that I was "somewhat" familiar with. I think it is a great idea for allowing students and parents to stay up to date with what is occuring in the classroom. As I browsed your site, I visualized the many benefits (again, for those who have access to the Internet). Looking at your calendar, I thought it would be a great way for absent students to see what they missed and maybe even begin makeup work. In my opinion, parent involvement is key to success, and a site like yours is a great way to encourage that!
Thanks so much. I try hard to add regularly. I am working on google docs right now to upload my ppts for ss and science so that students can access that info at home to study.
